I enjoy good food, be it exquisite haute cuisine, unique restaurants for after work drinks, or local gourmet hidden in the alleys. I am fond of coffee shops and I have a long list of them in my pocket: those suitable for doing some work, for sitting on the corner watching the men and women in the city, or for reading a book quietly while sipping a cup of coffee. I like taking a stroll along the streets casually to explore the neighborhoods in Taipei.

 

The alleys of Taipei could be very exciting: shadows from the afternoon sunlight spilling through the leaves, a cat napping underneath a car, blooming flowers sneaking beyond the wall, or old Japanese-style houses scattered among modern buildings. Making an inadvertent turn, you may find a specialty store located in a renovated old house, or a quiet cafe; on the left there is a fine French dessert shop, on the right a beef noodle shop since my grandpa’s generation, and fruit stand in the front with the shop owner cheerfully greeting. Old and new lifestyles mingled together is the simple and yet beautiful scenery of Taipei.

喜歡美食，不管是精緻的高級料理，下班小酌的特色餐廳，或是藏身巷弄裡的在地小吃。喜歡“咖啡館”，口袋裡有一長串名單，適合工作的，適合坐著旁觀城市裡男男女女的，或是適合端杯單品，拿本書靜靜的看。喜歡散步，沿著大街小巷，隨興亂鑽，探索臺北巷弄。

台北的巷弄很精彩，午後陽光透過樹葉灑落的光影，車底有貓兒在打盹，圍牆上偷偷探出頭綻放的花朵，日式老屋錯落在現代樓房之間，轉個彎不經意就發現一間舊屋新裝的特色商店或幽靜的咖啡館，左邊是精緻的法式甜點店，右邊是爺爺時代就存在的牛肉麵館，前面水果攤婆婆爽朗地招呼聲，新舊交雜相容的生活方式，是臺北簡單卻美好的城市風景。
